Abstract
Establishment of a Database for Evaluation of Integrated Impacts of Variations of Meteorological Changes and Air Pollution Levels on Environmental Diseases We conducted this study to establish a database to be used for evaluating integrated impacts of variations of meteorological changes and air pollution levels on incidence rate environmental diseases. As a part of efforts to evaluate the impacts of climate change on health, a large number of Korean scientists conducted studies to estimate acute effects of high temperature on variability of Korean mortality and to evaluate impacts of climate change on infectious diseases in South Korea. However, studies on integrated associations among meteorological factors, environmental risk factors and health effects are limited in South Korea although it is anticipated that the incidence rate of environmental diseases will increase as a direct and indirect effects of climate changes. The database was prepared with 3 major national data collected from the Korea Meteorological Administration, the National Institute of Environmental Research, and the National Health Insurance Corporation. Each data will be merged into the database by date and location. These national data covers a study period from 2003 to 2008. The completed database will be used for our next research projects as mentioned above.
