소셜 네트워크를 통한 생활 쓰레기 감축 활동 특성

Abstract

본 연구는 소셜 네트워크 분석(SNA) 방법론을 이용하여 시민들의 생활 쓰레기 감축 활동 특성을 규명하였다. 소셜 네트워크를 통해 생활 쓰레기 감축 활동에 참여한 시민들은 주로 ‘재사용’, ‘업사이클링’, ‘대체사용’ 방식으로 재활용을 실천하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 생활 쓰레기들 중에서 ‘일회용 식품용기’와 ‘포장용품’은 가장 많이 재활용된 대상으로 밝혀졌다. 또한 다양한 재활용 성과 창출에 강한 매개적 역할을 하는 쓰레기는 ‘음료 및 술병’과 ‘의류 및 섬유류’인 것으로 밝혀졌다. 재활용 가능한 쓰레기의 재료 성분 중 플라스틱이 가장 많았고 종이와 섬유가 그 뒤를 이었다. 가장 영향력 있는 재활용 방식은 '재사용'이나 '반납'을 통해 쓰레기를 ‘동일품목'으로 재활용하는 것으로 조사되었다. 이 연구의 결과로부터 쓰레기를 원천적으로 감축할 수 있는 다양한 실천적 방법들이 마련되기를 바란다. This study conducted a social network analysis (SNA) to identify the characteristics of household waste reduction activities among citizens. The results showed that individuals who participated in these activities through social networks mainly practiced recycling via “upcycling”, “reuse” and “alternative use” methods. Among the types of household wastes, “disposable food containers” and “packaging products” were the most commonly recycled objects. Moreover, “beverage and alcohol bottles” and “clothes and textiles” played strong mediating roles in various recycling outcomes. Among the material components of recyclable wastes, plastics accounted for the largest proportion, followed by paper and textiles. Finally, the most influential recycling method was recycling waste into the “same item” through “reuse” or “return”. These findings should facilitate the preparation of various practical methods to reduce waste at the source.
